To decrease substance abuse among youth and adults in our community.Goal and Objectives
1. Reduce alcohol use/abuse among youth and eventually among adults. 2. Reduce misuse/abuse of prescription and over-the-counter drugs. 3. Build cultural competence of the Drug Free Communities Task Force to ensure that diverse community member collaborate and cooperate to address substance abuse.Regular Meetings
The Task Force meets every 4 to 6 weeks. The subcommittees when working on a project can meet every 2 to 4 weeks.Funding Sources
We are funded through a federal grant which assists with staffing. In 2009 the Task Force received a State Incentive Grant to address underage drinking. Also our drug disposal event each year is funded by our city and county government. The permanent medication disposal site is funded through in kind and community donations.Activities or Programming
